About NJ Electric Guitar Group

The New Jersey Electric Guitar Group (NJ-EGG) was formed out of a desire to create a performing band who play for the benefit of the community and who can have a positive impact on young people. Electric guitar is very popular, but unfortunately many talented "guitar heros" are not the best role models. NJ-EGG players are encouraged to excel in music, develop good character and use their talents in a positive way so that THEY can become good role models for others. NJ-EGG seeks harmony in music as well as between people of different races, faiths, or social and ethnic origins.

Electric Guitar and Bass Guitar Learning Experience and Requirements:

Guitar and bass guitar students learn standard music notation, tab notation and chord symbols. Bass and guitar parts are assigned according to abilities and musical arrangements are written so that players of different levels play together. All can experience playing as a group in public. The result can be a big complex sound that everyone is part of and can feel good about.

Student Levels and NJ-EGG Certificates:

Players are encouraged to advance their skills and musical knowledge by working toward NJ-EGG certificates Level 1 through Level 8. Tests are offered twice a year. Certificates recognize students as having reached a certain level and they will be encouraged to teach or guide other players coming into the group who are below their playing level. This helps those coming in as well as the students doing the teaching.
